Laboratory Facilities

A number of multi-use laboratories in the Athletic Centre provide both undergraduate and graduate students with hands-on training in a wide range of laboratory technical skills and physical assessment techniques.

Faculty and student research is also conducted in many of these same facilities with additional spaces being devoted strictly to research. Recent funding from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation has enabled the faculty to develop a state-of-the-art research facility to conduct research in bone and reproductive health while support from the University of Toronto has led to the creation of an additional laboratory facility in the Benson Building that will be devoted solely to the teaching of laboratory courses in the undergraduate program.

Defense, Research and Development Canada has numerous laboratories devoted to applied and environmental physiology, physical activity and immunological function, and other human factors influencing physical activity performance.

The department is also affiliated with the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, and the Banting and Best Diabetes Centre at the University of Toronto.
