The Dean's Message
Welcome to the web site of the University of Toronto Faculty of Physical Education and Health. We hope you find it useful.
The Faculty of Physical Education and Health offers three outstanding degree programs — BPHE, MSc and PhD — for students seeking careers in physical activity and health. Our graduates work in universities, research institutes, schools, sports organizations and governments all around the world.
We offer co-curricular opportunities for active physical activity for the entire student body, as well as faculty, staff and members of the community. With 44 intercollegiate teams, multi-tiered intramural leagues in 26 sports, extensive offerings in movement, fitness and dance, and many children’s classes, we conduct one of the broadest programs in North America.
The Faculty is the largest employer of students at U of T.
When surfing the site, you will see that leading-edge research is a top priority of the Faculty of Physical Education and Health. Such research is vital to a better understanding of the complex social, behavioral and biophysical determinants of healthy physical activity. Research informs our teaching, athletic and wellness programming, community outreach and advocacy. From time to time, those participating in the Faculty’s athletic and fitness programs may be invited to be subjects in faculty and student research projects. In every case, participation in research is voluntary.
