
Dr. David L. MacIntosh
Toronto Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. MacIntosh passed away peacefully on January 12, 2013 in his Toronto home, surrounded by family. Pioneer in the new specialty of orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Mac had a career of over 50 years. He developed several landmark procedures that helped thousands of people with arthritis and injuries to bones and tendons. Dr. Mac began to work with young athletes in the 50's at the University of Toronto Hart House, becoming physician for the varsity football and hockey teams for 25 years. As a teaching professor he deeply influenced three generations of medical students and surgical trainees. The Sports Medicine clinic at the University of Toronto’s Athletic Centre was named after him in 1990.
In lieu of flowers, tax deductible donations are encouraged to the David L MacIntosh Sport Medicine Clinic at the University of Toronto, a centre for excellence in treating musculoskeletal injuries.
