The Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education has a long-established policy of offering women-only hours to ensure equitable participation in physical activity.  
Drop-in strength and conditioning for women only
The Athletic Centre offers daily women-only hours in the strength and conditioning centre. During this time, no male staff members work in this area of the facility.

The Athletic Centre also offers women-only strength and conditioning circuit orientation sessions to familiarize participants with the strength training equipment, including free weights, stability fitness balls and other resistance and cardio training equipment. This class is limited to six participants. Online registration is required 24 hours in advance.

Drop-in swimming for women only
The Athletic Centre offers women-only swim times in the Benson pool (25yd) five days a week.


During women-only swimming hours:

  • Windows and doors are completely covered
  • Only female staff members are on deck
  • An enclosed shower space is available immediately outside the pool
  • Women can change into bathing attire in accessible, private washrooms adjacent to the pool deck so that they do not need to go through public spaces in bathing attire

Pick-up sports for women only
During the winter term, Varsity Centre offers women-only sport hours.
